V3 Installation Instructions and Resources

Step-by-step instructions for first-time installation and updating an existing deployment of Dinkytown V3 Financial Calculators.

First-time Installation Instructions — Dinkytown.net V3 Financial Calculators

  1. Download the latest version of your calculators from your download site, found on your email receipt or download notice.
  2. Execute the Calc.exe file from your download. This is a self-extracting zip file. (Or unzip the Calc.zip file if you are using a non-Windows platform.)
  3. When prompted for a directory, you may use the default of calculators or enter your own. All files will be placed in this directory with no subdirectories. No other changes to your computer are made when this program is run.
  4. Format the provided calculator HTML pages to match your website, or copy calculator content to your own page (the page index.html will provide links to all of your calculators).
  5. Optional: Modify the Cascading Style Sheet in KJESiteSpecific.css to apply your site colors, borders, fonts and more to your calculators.
  6. Optional: Modify the JavaScript in KJESiteSpecific.js to apply additional customizations to your calculators.
  7. Copy the contents of the calculators directory to your server. This can be any directory you choose. You will then need to create links from pages on your website to the new calculator pages or the new calculator index.

To access your calculators use the URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/calculators
(Where “yourdomain” is the name of your domain and “calculators” is the directory where you placed the calculator files.)

Custom formatted delivery is a special option you can add to your maintenance update service. With this option we apply an HTML template to your calculator pages and reports before the update is sent to you — no further integration or modification is required. If your custom delivery uses ASP, JSP or Cold Fusion, the respective server-side pages will be in place of HTML documents for all calculator main pages. Updating an Existing Deployment

Updating Dinkytown.net V3 calculators does not require any manual editing. You only need to replace the updated JS and CSS files in your deployment.

  1. Download the latest version of your calculators from your download site, found on your email receipt or download notice.
  2. Execute the Calc.exe file from your download. This is a self-extracting zip file. (Or unzip the Calc.zip file if you are using a non-Windows platform.)
  3. When prompted for a directory, you may use the default of calculators or enter your own. All files will be placed in this directory with no subdirectories. No other changes to your computer are made when this program is run.
  4. Remove the following files: all files with the extension .html, KJESiteSpecific.js, and KJESiteSpecific.css.
  5. Copy the remaining files to your server, into the directory where you originally deployed your calculators.
